On Thursday, January 22, the hottest performers in the gay adult industry gathered at The Theater at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas for one of the biggest awards shows of the industry. The show was hosted by actor and comedian Alec Mapa as well as adult performers Drake Von and Tony Genius. The event featured awards in 39 different categories, and not just the on-camera talent was recognized.
There were awards for ‘Best Screenplay’ as well as three different awards for ‘Best Direction’. Notably director Marc MacNamara, who has appeared on the Happening Out Television Network in the past, won ‘Best Directing – Featurette’ for “The Tight Lotus”. The show also featured awards for categories like ‘best bi scene’, ‘Favorite Transmasc Star’, and of course the ‘Best Actor’ award which went to Paddy O’Brian. Ben Rush and Jessica Jasmin won for ‘Best Directing – Feature’, making Jasmin the first woman ever to win a directing award at the GayVNs, and only the second woman to take home any trophies at the show. In her acceptance speech, Jasmin said:
“Are you for real? Oh my God. I have no words. It’s a dream come true, honestly. I don’t even know what to say. I’ve been dreaming of it. I was always like, ‘I can retire if I have a GayVN.’ (But I’m not.).”
