In the Philippines, same-sex marriages and civil unions are still not recognized legally, and go against the country’s Family Code. Quezon City, however, has chosen to celebrate everyone with their annual Commitment Ceremony for LGBTQ couples. The event, part of the city’s goal to “provide a place where every member of the community is well-respected and treated equally,” is officiated by Mayor Joy Belmonte. Couples can register for the event until January 30th.
