Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Graham Platner is facing backlash after reposting content from anti-LGBTQ+ influencer Stew Peters, before he ended up deleting it. Peters has referred to transgender people as trashy freak shows and spread misinformation claiming that gay former U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is HIV-positive. His now deleted post read, “War with Iran is the only thing republicans and democrats have both given a standing ovation for. Let that sink in…As always, there’s one thing that brings Republican and Democratic politicians together: sending other people’s children to die in stupid wars in the Middle East.” His team called the repost accidental and said it was removed immediately. Platner has previously apologized for past homophobic language.
