Turns out Disney’s Hercules left out one very important detail… the man was allegedly booked and busy with boyfriends. Historians and ancient texts suggest the legendary Greek hero had several male lovers, including Hylas, a young companion Hercules reportedly fell deeply in love with after rescuing him from battle. According to the myths, Hercules was devastated when Hylas was taken away by water nymphs, searching endlessly for him afterward. Ancient writers also linked Hercules to other men, including Abderus and Nireus, proving Greek mythology was way queerer than many history books admit.
