The UK government has published a draft bill that would ban conversion practices aimed at changing a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity. The proposal comes eight years after the government first pledged to introduce such legislation. Stonewall CEO Simon Blake said, “This Bill sends a clear message to LGBTQ+ people that they don’t have to change who they are – they are not broken or in need of ‘fixing’..” The draft legislation must still pass through Parliament before becoming law.
