Ariana Grande is remembering her late grandmother with humor and heart. On Amy Poehler’s Good Hang podcast, the Wicked: For Good star shared her favorite Nonna story: the moment her brother Frankie came out as gay. Grande said “She was amazing. She was so funny,” confirming Frankie’s account that he first came out to her when she was 11 and she was rather excited to meet his boyfriend.
But Nonna needed a beat to process it. Grande shared, “Nonna was just trying to figure it out…though very accepting, very loving.” Nonna asked, “‘Frankie, have you seen a pair of breasts?… Didn’t do anything for you?… Well, you’re gay…‘What the hell? Who cares?… We got dinner reservations at Positano.’” Grande closed with a wish that all kids receive the similar support and acceptance.
