Rev. Dr. Anne Kunath (1932–2021) was a prominent leader in the New Thought movement, celebrated as an ordained minister, author, and motivational speaker. Born in South Carolina, she initially lived the life of an active Army wife before embarking on a spiritual career. Her trajectory was significantly influenced by her role as assistant to the renowned metaphysics teacher Catherine Ponder.

In 1975, Kunath founded the Church of Today in San Antonio, which eventually became the first Divine Science church in Texas. She rose to high leadership, serving as President of the United Divine Science Ministerial School and the Divine Science Federation Governing Board. Known for her practical, down-to-earth approach to New Thought metaphysics and her sharp sense of humor, Kunath was a member of Mensa and received the INTA Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006.

She taught “creative denials and positive affirmations” as part of effective prayer. She dedicated her life to teaching the power of love, joyful attitudes, and spiritual growth. New Thought, being non-dogmatic, affirming, and inclusive, appeals to many people in the New Thought tradition, and no less than 4 Sunshine Cathedral leaders hold Divine Science credentials, and a fifth is expected within a year.
