Northern Kentucky University awarded trans student Murry Foust a posthumous Bachelor of Fine Arts degree during a memorial service held on campus. Foust, 22, received a BFA in Integrative Media and Spatial Arts with a focus on painting and spatial arts. Foust disappeared on April 27 while walking through Covington’s Latonia neighborhood. After weeks of searching by loved ones and authorities using drones, K9 units, and water rescue teams, Foust’s body was discovered on May 24 near an industrial area in Wilder, Kentucky. Police said there are “currently no indications of foul play,” though the official cause and manner of death remain pending. NKU President Cady Short-Thompson called Foust a remarkable person and talented artist.
