GaYBOR & Tampa Bay Gossip & News

C A R N I V A L … GaYBOR STYLE
Midway rides, bright sunny skies, cotton candy, 50 Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence riding on a ferris wheel, a great stage full of local entertainment, beer gardens, a lot of friends new and old and yes those huge corn dogs from the food venders. It was GaYBOR’s Southern Exposure Weekend, a full weekend of fun, shows, and entertainment provided by GaYBOR District Coalition members. The midway in Czar’s parking lot and a stage that had over 30 entertainers provided fun and excitement. Along the streets were vendors and Fiesta Day events sponsored by Ybor City Chamber of Commerce. Over 60,000 came to sample the flan, black beans and yellow rice, and just to enjoy a beautiful sunny day in Ybor City. Nonprofit groups had booths available for them to promote their news events to the many visitors. On stage were acts including singer Judy B. Goode and piano playing Paul Thomas, sax artist Alan Darcy, Lush Progress (compliments of Crowbar), female illusionists Nikki, Erika, Stephanie and Michelle, local singing funster Goefry Goeff, drag divas Crystal Waters and Joey Brooks, can-can dancers from Olivier’s Cabaret and so many more talented acts. The MC was Carlos Lopez, who did a superb job of keeping the music and festivities flowing with DJ Kaos. Except for a few glitches all went well on Saturday. Singing live in concert was singing star Veronica, but because of some technical problems the concert went from outdoors to inside G.Bar. The weather turned sour on Sunday with the rain and cold winds. All the events went inside Czars and Honey Pot for a memorable party time. Geo Vax Labs brought in for the weekend show 20 Miss US of A winners from across the United States for “Reach for the Stars” Awareness Raising Show. We all hope that you enjoyed a world of fun this past weekend, because more is coming!

THE SISTERS OF PERPETUAL INDULGENCE

A huge CONGRATULATIONS goes out to our Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence! This past weekend they were elevated from a mission to a Full Order! The complex process took over 4 years to complete. Sisters from 6 states flew in for the ceremony; even a founding member from San Francisco, who has been a Sister since 1977, was here! We received one of the highest honors and were elevated to Sainthood! After the ceremony the Good Sisters went right back to community charity work!  CABARET …CABARET …CABAREEE…….TT
The most familiar face in drag appeared in Ybor City at Olivier’s Cabaret & Show Bar for 2 sold out nights. Congratulations to the new owners, Olivier, Michael and Manager Ricky. Ru Paul, famous for her outlandish remarks, music, writing, singing and her 6 1/2 ft drag queen stature on Logo TV Network’s new weekly series hit, “Ru Paul Drag Races” wowed the over capacity crowds. RU gave it her smiling best and over the top display of being a true media Starbooty!
