What’s HOT! South Florida September 16, 2010

I was so wiped out from the last 2 weeks that Friday I decided it was a “me” night and stayed home to relax (that is a rarity in my life). Saturday afternoon I stopped in at Sidelines to see everyone dressed up in their favorite football jerseys and to say hello to Laurie and Jennifer. Saturday night I ventured out to The Manor to see Zayra performing live to a packed house. I also went to the Latin Room to say hello to my friend Viva Mirage who was the special guest. Sunday was a bit crowded with events, but I managed to take in a lot of them.

HOT! Events in South Florida This Week

Last Week in Review

I was so wiped out from the last 2 weeks that Friday I decided it was a “me” night and stayed home to relax (that is a rarity in my life). Saturday afternoon I stopped in at Sidelines to see everyone dressed up in their favorite football jerseys and to say hello to Laurie and Jennifer.

Saturday night I ventured out to The Manor to see Zayra performing live to a packed house. I also went to the Latin Room to say hello to my friend Viva Mirage who was the special guest.

Sunday was a bit crowded with events, but I managed to take in a lot of them. In the afternoon, after I finally went back to the gym at Island City Health and Fitness (God knows it was about time) I peaked my head into Alibi Brunch, which always seems to be busy and had some delicious edibles.

Sunday night I went to Ramrod for their 16th anniversary celebration. Now admittedly I am not a leather person and I don’t get to Ramrod often (I leave that for Guido and Rich) but every time I am there this bar is wall to wall people. Congratulations to Zack and Steve for 16 fabulous years and I wish them many more years of success. I then headed down to Voodoo Lounge for Kennedy Davenports birthday celebration and, as usual, Life’s A Drag was great!

Afterwards I went down to Mekka in downtown Miami for the 1st annual Mr. Miami Gay contest. The contest was hosted by Kitty Meow and featured many celebrity judges including recording artist Kevin Aviance. This was the finals for Miami which featured 4 contestants (down from 20) and in the end congratulations go out to the winner, sexy Avi. He will be representing Miami at the nationals.

It begins to work within the deep dermis, where your skin’s structure is reinforced as Sculptra helps to replace lost collagen. This reinforced collagen structure provides a foundation that gradually restores the look of fullness of your shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds that have depleted over time. The result? Hot Stuff

I would like to wish congratulations to Gannon, former general manager of Dudes, who recently became the new owner of Dudes. Gannon tells me he has some fantastic changes coming in the next few weeks, so stay tuned.

Last week a federal judge in California ruled that the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” (DADT) policy which bars openly gay and lesbian service members from serving in the military is unconstitutional. Judge Virginia A. Phillips stated that DADT infringes upon the fundamental rights of gay and lesbian United States service members in many ways, including the right to enjoy “intimate conduct” in their personal relationships and the right to speak to loved ones while serving their country in uniform.

GRAMMY winning recording artist Maroon 5 is back with their highly anticipated third studio album, “Hands All Over” (A&M/Octone), set for release on September 21st. Produced by rock studio legend Robert John “Mutt” Lange (AC/DC, Def Leppard, The Cars), “Hands All Over” is a killer hybrid of rock, pop, funk and R&B. Maroon 5 began writing the songs that appear on “Hands All Over” after winding down from a world tour in support of their 2007 studio release “It Won’t Be Soon Before Long.” Several months later, the band received a phone call from Lange, who had heard that the band were beginning to write a new album, and expressed an interest in producing it. “We didn’t even talk to anyone else,” Adam Levine, Maroon 5’s front man says. “Mutt is undeniably one of the most successful producers who’s ever lived.” Jesse Carmichael, the band’s keyboardist, added, “Mutt really helped us play to the best of our ability. And it drove us to be bigger and better than ever.”

The result is “Hands All Over,” a monumental record chock full of buoyant, unforgettable melodies.  Recorded at Lange’s Switzerland studio, the members of Maroon 5 locked themselves in the mountains to patiently craft their latest effort. Starting with the hard-rocking title track, the album’s 15 tracks take several intoxicating twists and turns including such compositions as “Out of Goodbyes,” a stunning country ballad infused with musical and vocal contributions from Nashville chart-toppers Lady Antebellum. Long-time fans will get a thrill out of “Misery,” with its funky guitars and high-stepping melody, as well as the propulsive “Stutter,” melody rich “Give A Little More” and “Don’t Know Much About That,” which professes a classic soulful vibe. Maroon 5’s “Hands All Over” can be purchased at all major record stores and online staring Tuesday, September 21st.
