Friday, June 19 (Juneteenth) 

A multidisciplinary performance at the Miami Beach Bandshell explores Black history and cultural expression through music, dance and visual storytelling with doors opening at 6pm and show at 7pm. The Juneteenth Experience returns as an annual program presented as part of Miami Beach Arts in the Parks. The evening combines live performances with film to reflect on themes of identity, history, and artistic voice. The program begins with a curated selection of short films by South Florida filmmakers, followed by a concert-theater presentation led by Hued Songs. Directed by Executive Artistic Director Kunya Rowley, with music direction by King Friday, the performance blends gospel, classical and contemporary influences with spoken word, choreography and multimedia elements. The work is shaped by contributions from choreographer Gentry George, writer Arsimmer McCoy and visual artist Russell Watson. Centered on the theme I, Too, Sing America, the production considers evolving interpretations of American identity through the lens of Black artistry. Admission is free and open to the public. 

R House Wynwoods Turn It Out Fridays presents special guest, from RuPaul’s Drag race All Stars Season 11, Crystal Methyd. The viewing party is from 8 to 9pm and the drag show is from 9pm till late.

The Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida presents “Invincible” at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts with special guests Orlando Gay Chorus, The Gay Men’s Chorus of Tampa Bay, and Symphony of the Americas. Emerging from tragedy to triumph is a trademark of the LGBTQ+ community. In one spectacular evening, the Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida will be joined by the state’s most powerful choral groups to pay tribute to the 10th anniversary of the Pulse Nightclub shootings and our community’s incredible ability to push forward with courage and strength. This night of remembrance will fuel determination and pride, while inspiring us to join together and stand proud as we face the challenges of today and the future. The world premiere of a specially commissioned work by acclaimed composer Saunders Choi anchors the evening, followed by uplifting songs that celebrate the strength of the LGBTQ+ community. Riverwalk Fort Lauderdale is proud to announce its participation in the worldwide Make Music Day celebration, with a free afternoon of live music at Tunnel Top Plaza on Las Olas Boulevard from 2 to 5 pm. The program will include three local artists and the opportunity for drop-in participation by musicians of all types and experience levels.
