This past weekend I was lucky enough (through the generosity of a friend whose name I will not mention until I get permission from him) to be taken along with 7 other friends (9 all together) on the Atlantis 20th anniversary cruise on Royal Caribbean’s newest ship, the Allure. For those of you who don’t know, Allure is the largest ship in the world and boasts some of the most unbelievable entertainment along with a promenade that looks like a shopping mall, a Central Park, Rock Climbing wall, Flow rider, Zip Line and much more. As this was my first gay cruise ever, I was a little intimidated but Malcolm Neitzey (Atlantis Cruise Director) and his amazing staff (including the oh so cute Tony…YUM!) made the cruise so much fun it was impossible to not just have a great time! I got home Sunday morning, took a nap, came to work for 5 hours and then it was off to the Mr. and Miss State of Florida Continental Pageant at the Walt Lawrence and Stephen Lewis Center for Worship and the Arts at the Sunshine Cathedral. There were 4 boy and 4 female impersonator contestants and in the end the 1st alternates were Tariq Luv Dupree and Taliyah Cassadine and the New Mr. and Miss State of Florida are John Marieh and Tatiana Braxton. Congrats to Corrie Boyd, Lewis Nicholson, Phillip Alexander and the entire team that once again put on a fabulous pageant! A special hello to Jim Flint, owner of the Continental Pageantry system and The Baton Show Lounge, who came in to support the preliminary. It’s always nice to see Jim in Florida! Afterwards I went to The Manor to hear Grammy winner Peter Rauhofer spin live. As usual, Peter kept the energy high and boys on the dance floor.
As you can imagine, after the cruise and a long day, I was wiped out and was on my way home but decided to make a quick stop in at Trannie Palace to see my friend Misty Eyez and her talented cast at Bill’s Filling Station as this is always a fun place to be on Sundays.
