Gay Days from the Publisher – Peter Clark

gay days peter clarkWelcome to the Gay Days edition of Hotspots Magazine. I can’t begin to tell you how proud we are to play our part in contributing to the success of such a wonderful event. Did you know that Florida is the second largest LGBT state in the nation? Think about it… With incredible cities like Orlando, Tampa, Fort Lauderdale and Miami, it’s no wonder more people choose to call Florida home. Only California has more gay residents than Florida and we’re catching up real fast! Hotspots has served at the voice of Florida’s vibrant gay community for well over 27 years and I have to say that every year we have seen Gay Days get better and stronger. None of this would be possible without the incredible teams that work tirelessly to bring this together every year starting with the Gay Days Team headed by Chris Alexander-Manley and his awesome side-kick Penny Edgar-Reed. With so much going on at the host hotel, the fabulous Double Tree by Hilton at SeaWorld from the pool parties and special events to the Expo. I suggest you grab a copy of the 2012 Gay Days Guide so you can plan how you want to spend your days and not miss a thing.

I’d also be remise if I did not thank all of the other partner organizations such as Billy Looper and Tom Christ who bring you One Magical Weekend including Riptide at Typhoon Lagoon (my favorite) and Retro T at Epcot Center. Who could have ever imagined even a few short years ago that exclusive all gay events would be hosted right in Walt Disney’s theme park. So, as you enter Typhoon Lagoon this year, watch for the Hotspots Special Events Winnebago and say hello as we proudly fly the rainbow flag from her masts welcoming everyone from around the world.

Hats off (and anything else you care to remove) also goes out to Mark Baker and his team as well who returns again this year to the Buenavista Palace Resort and Spa hosting the 2012 edition of Wonder World with Orlando’s International Dance Music Weekend.

Let’s not forget all of the other venues that proudly call Orlando their home including the iconic Parliament House who will be teeming with activities this weekend including a live concert by Chaka Khan. Revolution Night Club will jump start thing off Thursday night along with a host of other clubs and venues throughout the weekend. Take a moment to read through this special edition of Hotspots Magazine to find out everything you need to know to plan your amazing weekend here in Orlando and around the state.

On behalf of everyone at Hotspots Media Group, we welcome you to Orlando. We are thrilled that you joined us and hope that you leave here with fond memories to last a lifetime. We also hope you are inspired to return to Florida again and again to take in the magic of the Sunshine State, our home.
