Two days after Stonewall was the Celebration of life of one of the creators of the Stonewall festival here in Fort Lauderdale, Bob Kecskemety. This is a one-woman cabaret show and Noel commands the stage as only she can. In addition to the fab show we had delicious food and a delicious waiter, although we weren’t allowed to taste him. After we finished eating and ogling the waiter we made our way over to Twist for their 19th anniversary celebration. As we walked in Joel and hiswhats hot south fl1 other half Peter were walking outside, so we got to see them immediately, which was good because as we stepped in we realized it was packed everywhere and it would have been hard to spot Joel at that point. We started on the bottom floor where we of course had to sneak a peak in Bar 5 with all the hot dancers and say hello to my friend Jerry (dance Manager) and then went upstairs and hung out there for quite awhile. While there we saw Rafa (Wire), Rob (Club Sugar), Bruce and Ben (Creative Male), Tom (Palace), Ken (Naughty Rooster), Mark (House), Henrietta, Edison (SoBe Social Club), Ivan (newly appointed Executive Director of Miami Beach Gay Pride) and many more. We ended the night in the downstairs Latin room and danced some salsa before calling it a night. Congrats to Joel, Richard, Valentino and the entire Twist team on 19 fabulous year!

whats hot south fl8Esurance became the first car insurance company in the country to offer new car insurance savings to those in domestic partnerships and civil unions in 21 new states across the country, regardless of their state’s laws regarding same-sex partnerships.  This announcement could have a huge impact on the industry as a whole, and hopefully will encourage others to follow suit!

For the first time, a new poll shows more Americans “strongly support” same-sex marriage than “strongly oppose” it, a finding that could be attributed to changes occurring within organized religions, says a Presbyterian elder and lay preacher. “For 2,000 years, religion has been the genesis of antipathy toward homosexuals, but now, three major American denominations have approved ordination of openly gay clergy,” says Paul Hartman, a retired PBS/NPR station executive and author of “The Kairos” (CarpeKairos.com), a novel that imagines Jesus as gay. “Gay has become the civil rights issue of the 21st century,” he says. Overall, Langer Research Associates says, 53 percent of Americans believe same-sex marriages should be legalized – up from only 36 percent just six years ago.
