The Adrienne Arsht Center
for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County is proud to announce the anticipated return of Whoopi Goldberg, the undisputed queen of comedy and entertainment. As part of the Center’s 2013-2014 Live at Knight series, Whoopi Goldberg will present a new, wickedly funny stand-up show on March 1 at 8:00 p.m. in the John S. and James L. Knight Concert Hall.

“Broadway, movies, stand-up, sitcoms, talk shows, and radio shows…Whoopi Goldberg has conquered it all! Ms. Goldberg’s prestigious accolades speak volumes about her talent and we look forward to welcoming her back to our stage for what is sure to be a sold-out evening bursting with hilarity,” said John Richard, president and CEO of the Adrienne Arsht Center.

Whoopi Goldberg is one of a very elite group of artists who have won the Grammy (“Whoopi Goldberg,” 1985), the Academy Award (“Ghost,” 1991), the Golden Globe (“The Color Purple,” 1985 and “Ghost,” 1991), the Emmy (as host of AMC’s “Beyond Tara:  The Extraordinary Life of Hattie McDaniel,” 2002 and a Daytime Emmy for “The View” in 2009) and a Tony (Producer of “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” 2002).  Whoopi has appeared in many films, on TV and graced the Broadway stage. She made her debut as an author in 1992 and has since published four books and a children’s book series. She is equally well-known for her humanitarian efforts on behalf of children, the homeless, human rights, education, substance abuse and the battle against AIDS, as well as many other causes and charities.  Among her many charitable activities, Whoopi is a Goodwill Ambassador to the United Nations.

Whoopi Goldberg’s comic wit surpasses even her stunning list of awards. Her wise and witty repartee is a daily treat on ABC’s “The View,” and her many stints as host of the Academy Awards are the stuff of comic legends. Goldberg’s talent as an actress spans the breadth of Broadway hits, including A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and Xanadu; television roles on Star Trek: The Next Generation, The Cleaner and Hollywood Squares; and unforgettable film performances in the comedies Sister Act and Soapdish, and stirring dramas The Color Purple and Ghost.

Tickets to Whoopi Goldberg are currently on sale at $50, $80 and $95. Tickets may be purchased through the Adrienne Arsht Center box office by calling (305) 949-6722 or online at ArshtCenter.org.
