The Fort Lauderdale Gay Men’s Chorus closes its 28th season with a travel-themed show called “Ticket to Paradise.” The show is being billed as a musical tour of great destinations. This show will be performed twice at the Museum of Art Fort Lauderdale (1 East Las Olas Boulevard). The opening night performance is Saturday, June 14 at 8 p.m. and the second and final performance is the next night, Sunday, June 15, at 7 p.m.
The Chorus will be singing a number of songs about your favorite tourist destinations, including but not limited to New York, San Francisco, Chicago, and even Miami right in our own collective backyard. The Chorus is under the direction of Dr. Gary Keating, who founded the group and stayed with it for its first decade. He returned as conductor in 2012 after a hiatus that lasted over sixteen years.
Tickets for the show “Ticket to Paradise” are on sale now; they cost $25 for general admission and $40 for premium seating. All tickets will be held at will call on the night of the show for convenience; just show up and be ready with your ID. The Fort Lauderdale Gay Men’s Chorus is the oldest gay performing arts organization in the state of Florida, having been established in 1986. Their mission is “to build community through quality musical performances and civic engagement that promotes a world that accepts and values diversity.” Funding for this organization is provided partly by the Broward County Commission via recommendation from the Broward Cultural Council.
