Singer-songwriter Bob Dylan changed the face of a generation in the 1960s, as his songs chronicled the social upheaval that was going on in the country at the time. Since then, he has built a strong career in rock and folk music, selling over 100 million albums around the world and earning an outstanding ten Grammy Awards, Academy Award and Golden Globe Award. He is currently touring the United States and soon he will be stopping in Florida for four appearances: the St. Augustine Amphitheater in St. Augustine on Saturday, April 18; the Dr. Phillips Center in Orlando on Sunday, April 19; the Broward Center in Fort Lauderdale on Tuesday, April 21; and Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater on Wednesday, April 22.
Bob Dylan started his career in the 1960s with “protest songs” which resonated with young 
people in the U.S. at that time. Singles like “Blowin’ in the Wind,” “The Times They Are A-Changin’,” “Talking John Birch Paranoid Blues,” and “Like a Rolling Stone” became well-known hits both by Dylan and by other artists. He became very involved in social causes, marching with Joan Baez in the 1963 March on Washington. By the early 1970s, he became the worldwide face of folk music and branched out to rock as well. The 1975 song “Tangled Up in Blue” is considered one of his best songs and was picked for preservation by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He won an Academy Award in 2000 for his original song “Things Have Changed,” used in the soundtrack for the film Wonder Boys. His 36th album, and his most recent, Shadows in the Night, was released in February 2015.
These four Florida tour dates are part of Bob Dylan’s “Never Ending Tour.” Originally started in 1988, the Never Ending Tour has brought Bob Dylan and His Band to all inhabited continents of the world. On average, Dylan performs over 100 tour dates per year. He celebrated his 2,500th performance on this tour in 2013.
