Argentina es uno de los países más grandes del continente sudamericano y es un ejemplo de un país tolerante y liberal que hasta ahora no ha sufrido la ira de Dios por sus leyes que 
protegen nuestra comunidad. Como la mayoría de los países del mundo, Argentina tiene una larga historia de acoso y brutalidad contra los hombres homosexuales pero durante la última década, los argentinos han cambiado sus leyes discriminatorias convirtiéndose en el país más tolerante del continente, posiblemente del hemisferio. (Los canadienses también son súper tolerantes, sobre todo en términos de sus leyes liberales que protegen y reconocen la comunidad LGBT.)
Historia LGBT
Quizás los hombres homosexuales en los EEUU solo piensan en Evita Perón o El Papa Francisco 
cuando piensan en Argentina, pero es interesante que el país tenga una historia liberal al compararlo a sus vecinos, sobre todo los otros países católicos.
La actividad sexual entre personas del mismo sexo entre adultos que consienten en privado ha sido legal desde 1887, al contrario de los EEUU donde todavía hay leyes anti-sodomías en estados como Texas, aunque El Tribunal Supremo ha proclamado que dichos leyes violan los derechos constitucionales garantizados a todos los estadounidenses.
En 2009 las fuerzas armadas argentinas comenzaron a aceptar a los homosexuales después de la aprobación de una ley que sustituyó el que les prohibió servir abiertamente antes.
En 2010, Argentina se convirtió en el primer país en América del sur, y solo el segundo en las Américas en legalizar el matrimonio para las parejas del mismo sexo. Después de una batalla de varios años en los cortes, los legisladores aprobaron la ley de igualdad de matrimonio en las dos cámaras de su gobierno, efectivamente abriendo las puertas al matrimonio a todos los ciudadanos sin importar el sexo de los individuos.
Desafortunadamente, exactamente como sus hermanos LGBT en los EEUU, los argentinos no tienen protección legal contra la discriminación en el trabajo o en otras áreas como servicios generales. Solo los militares del país no pueden ser despedidos por ser homosexual. Justo como aquí en los EEUU, hay varios grupos LGBT que intentan cambiar la ley para que proteja todos los miembros de nuestra comunidad en el trabajo, en casa, y otras áreas de la vida cotidiana.
Clima diverso
Argentina es un país muy grande así que disfruta de un clima y geografía muy diversa. En el norte, en la región de la frontera con Brasil, existe un clima tropical con selvas tropicales y 
mucha biodiversidad. La mayoría del país tiene un clima temporada- En las pampas famosas del país hay veranos calientes y tormentosos e inviernos frescos. Al sur del país, en la zona de Patagonia, el clima es subpolar, con glaciares, nieve, y vientos fuertes muy fríos. Como todos los países del hemisferio del sur, las estaciones están inversas a los de los EEUU; el verano es desde diciembre al marzo.
Turismo
Como ya puedes imaginar, con leyes que apoyan a la comunidad LGBT, Argentina es un destino 
muy popular con nuestra comunidad. Hay varios vuelos diarios desde el sur de la Florida y al llegar al país existe una red muy avanzada de transporte público. (Casi todos los pueblos y todas las ciudades están conectados por los trenes nacionales.)
En la ciudad capital hay todas las comodidades que los hombres gay han llegado a esperar cuando están de vacaciones. Desde bares y discotecas, deliciosos restaurantes y hoteles boutique, Buenos Aires tiene todo.
Cada año en Noviembre, a finales de la primavera argentina, Buenos Aires tiene su festival de orgullo gay. Con un desfile y varios otros eventos, es un evento celebrado por miles de los argentinos y visitantes al país.
Debido del clima y geografía montañosa del país, Argentina tiene varias estaciones de esquí, unos de los mejores del continente. Con glaciales y frío de todo el año hay un sistema turístico para cualquier viajero. Hasta hay muchas compañías ecoturísticas ofreciendo tours que no puedes encontrar en ningún otro parte del mundo.
Argentina is one of the biggest countries in South America and the country is a prime example of a tolerance and liberalism that has yet to suffer the Wrath of God despite its laws that protect our community. Just like the majority of the countries in the world, Argentina has a long history 
of harassment and brutality against gay men, but during the last decade, Argentinians have changed their discriminatory laws, becoming the most tolerant country on the continent , possibly even in the hemisphere. (Canadians are also very tolerant, especially in terms of their liberal laws that protect and recognize the LGBT community.)
LGBT History
Perhaps the only things many gay men in the U.S. know about Argentina have to do with Evita Peron and Pope Francisco, but it’s interesting that the country has a very liberal history in comparison to its neighbors, especially when compared to other “Catholic countries.”
Sexual activity between two people of the same sex that take place in private has been legal in Argentina since 1887, contrary to the U.S.A. where there are STILL anti-sodomy laws on the books in states like Texas, despite the Supreme Court declaring that said laws violate the constitutional rights guaranteed to all Americans.
In 2009, The Argentinian Armed Forces began allowing gay men and lesbians to serve openly 
after an older law banning gays in the military was overturned.
In 2010, Argentina became the first country in South America, and only the second in all of the Americas, to legalize marriage between people of the same sex. After a court battle that lasted several years, law makers there passed a law allowing for marriage equality in both houses of their government, effectively opening the doors to marriage for all citizens, regardless of the gender or sex of the couples.
Unfortunately, just like their LGBT brothers and sisters in the U.S. Argentinians don’t yet have legal protection from discrimination in the workplace or in other areas like services and goods. Only members of the military can’t be fired for being homosexual. Just like here in the U.S., there are several LGBT rights groups that are fighting to change the laws and protect our community at their jobs, at home, and in their daily lives.
Diverse Climate
Argentina is a very big country so it features a very diverse climate as well as geography. In the north, in the region bordering Brazil, the climate is tropical with rainforests and tons of biodiversity. Most of the country enjoys a temperate climate- on the famous Argentine pampas, there are hot summers and cool winters. In the southern part of the country, in Patagonia, the climate is sub-polar featuring glaciers, snow, and strong cold winds. Just like in the rest of the countries in the southern hemisphere, the seasons are reverse in Argentina. Summer is from December till March.
Tourism
As you can imagine, with such liberal laws applying to the LGBT community, Argentina is a very popular destination for our community. There are several daily flights to Argentina from South 
Florida and upon arriving to the country, there is a very well developed network of public transportation. (Almost every town and ALL cities are connected to the national train system.)
In the capital city of Buenos Aires you can find all the comforts that gay men have come to expect when traveling. From bars and nightclubs to delicious restaurants and boutique hotels, Buenos Aires has it all.
Each year in November, at the end of the Argentinian spring, the city of Buenos Aires celebrates its gay pride. With a parade and several other events, Pride is celebrated by thousands of Argentinians and tourists from around the world.
Because of the climate and mountainous geography, Argentina has several ski resorts, some of the best in South America. With glaciers and constant cold in the south, there is tourism for just about any type of traveler. There are even several ecotourism companies that offer tours that you can’t find anywhere else on earth.
