TreasureTrove_eddy-ZeidlerEddy Zeidler, a native of Chicago, Illinois, performs quite a few characters in Disney On Ice Presents Treasure Trove, including Buzz Lightyear, who audiences will see in the opening number. He lived for three years in Weston, where his family now lives. He was introduced to the Fort Lauderdale and Miami Beach gay scenes at this time and he let us know he was an avid reader of Hotspots during his time down here. I had the chance to talk to him in the run-up to his return to South Florida in this exclusive Hotspots interview.

You’ve been involved in Disney On Ice shows for a number of years now. What sets Treasure Trove apart from the other shows you’ve done?

The Feld sisters, when creating this show, really wanted to involve the Disney characters around the theme and imagery of a treasure chest. They grew up with all of these characters and wanted to include them all in one big show now that they are producers, and I think that’s how this show sets itself apart…that it includes so many characters that people love all in one show. It’s very quickly-paced and it’s fun to perform and to watch. It’s my dream show.

Out of all the different numbers that are in the show, which one is your favorite and why?TreasureTrove_copy2

I love playing Buzz Lightyear, but I really love participating in the “Under the Sea” number. The costumes we get to wear for that number are absolutely breathtaking, and all of us are shimmying and shaking underneath these blue lights, and the costumes give off this beautiful glow. It’s such a lot of fun to be a part of that number.

Some people may consider these shows “just for kids.” What would you say to adults to persuade them to see Treasure Trove?

I’d tell them not to worry about anything. Just get your favorite Disney costume out of your closet, put it on and come on down to the show. I guarantee that everyone will have a blast. Act like a kid again! I particularly love it when people come in costume. I think they have the most fun.
