Shores Aesthetics (9526 NE 2nd Ave., Suite 103, Miami Shores) has been in business for just TYH-3037_copy2seven months, and the practice has already earned a very loyal clientele. Customers keep coming back and they refer their friends and family due to the cheerful service they receive by the practice’s owner, Dr. Christopher Vendryes. He takes walk-ins in addition to appointments, and he makes sure that people who come in for a consultation are properly educated on each procedure and they leave knowing that he cares about them, just like he cares about the happiness and well-being of every patient.

I talked to Dr. Vendryes about his practice and the services he offers at Shores Aesthetics in this exclusive Hotspots interview.

TYH-3037_DrVendryesPlease tell us a little bit about your medical background.

I’m originally from Jamaica and there I had a background in general surgery. I moved to the United States in 1979 and I was a general surgeon in New York. When I moved to Miami, I trained at Jackson Memorial Hospital in anesthesiology and I became a board certified anesthesiologist. Being an anesthesiologist and working in the field of pain management, I had already been skilled in injective medicine and that was a segue into anti-aging medicine and aesthetic procedures.

What kinds of services do you offer at your practice?

I do fillers for wrinkles and grooves, such as the areas around the face. I offer laser hair removal, for people who want to remove unwanted hair, such as the areas around the groin, on the face, and on the back, for example. In South Florida a lot of people have sun damage spots on their faces and on their bodies and I can remove those spots. We also have an aesthetician in my office and she gives facials and other treatments, such as the DermaPen procedure and the vampire facial, the latter allowing stem cells from platelet-rich plasma to rejuvenate the skin. In a nutshell, those are some of the services I offer.

How do you specifically tailor your procedures to men?

When I have men who come in for laser hair removal, for instance, some men want their armpits done, some want their bikini areas done, some want their backs done, it just varies. Some men comment that they want their beard lines done. They still want the beard but they want it a certain shape with no hair outside those areas. Other men want their wrinkles smoothed out, specifically crows’ feet, frown lines and the wrinkle across their brows. Every procedure that can offered to women, we can offer to men.TYH-3037_copy

I noticed on your website that you sell Herbalife Skin products. Tell us a little bit about why you like them.

I try not to sell a lot of products in my practice but there are times when I am asked which skin care products I recommend, so there are a few that I do sell, one of which is Herbalife Skin. I like products that are well-made, ones that are of high quality, ones that deliver results, and ones that are inexpensive. Herbalife Skin is one that I love for all of those reasons, and I also like that the production of these products is 100% green. They are great for the environment.

What sets your practice apart from others in the area?

What I really take pride in is that we cater to our clients. We really try our hardest to go that extra mile. When people walk by our building, many of them may not know about us. We don’t have a storefront; we’re inside a medical office building. It’s a little bit more discreet here. We try to offer a more subdued, relaxed atmosphere and we’ve found that really appeals to our clients.
