Hialeah Pride will be hosting a same sex marriage ceremony on the Main Stage during Hialeah Pride on Sunday, October 13, at historic Hialeah Park.

While marriage ceremonies are nothing new at Pride events this ceremony will be taking place in Hialeah, the Nation’s 4th most conservative city, making this event even more significant for South Florida’s LGBTQI+ community. Hialeah Pride Founders Karen Larrea and Citizen Jane stated “Last year we had close to 6,000 people attend the initial year of Hialeah Pride marking that we were bringing equality to our community within Hialeah. This year we will continue to push further and continue to break barriers for equality for the LGBTQI+ community.”

The Hialeah Pride Committee team will choose a couple from the local South Florida community who will take their vows and be married in front of thousands of their community “Family” members. The couple’s ceremony will be nationally broadcast on a one-hour special Hialeah Pride broadcast live on It’s Happening OUT! The couple will be gifted a 3-night luxurious romantic honeymoon in Key West that includes sparkling wine, chocolate covered strawberries, daily breakfast and afternoon cocktail hour from Alexanders Guesthouse an upscale LGBTQI only resort, the official honeymoon sponsor.

Larrea states, “We are so excited to be holding this special event at Hialeah Pride, I have yet to confirm this but we believe Hialeah Pride is the first Pride in South Florida to hold a marriage ceremony at their Pride event, and where better than at Hialeah Pride as we continue to break the equality barriers.” Couples can nominate themselves or can be nominated via email to wedding@hialeahpride.com please include the couples photo, length together and why they should be chosen for this historic ceremony. The Couple that is chosen will be announced on Thursday, Sept 26, on Hialeah Pride social media.
