After pandemic it seemed like it would be a slow year for donations and riders. Founder Glen Weinzimer appears frequently as an anchor here at Queer News Tonight, and he has frequently said that the hope was that they would break $1 Million in donations for this year’s The Smart Ride 18. For the first time since 2016, not only did the ride get more than $1 Million in donations, but it broke all previous records, raising over $1.2 million dollars. 100% of all funds raised by The Smart Ride go to help HIV/AIDS charities in the community.
