The LGBTQ+ community of South Florida is excited about the first announcement of the new season of the beloved South Florida Symphony Orchestra which will perform in different locations like Key West, Miami-Dade, and Fort Lauderdale. The event will start on November 8 and conclude on April 17, 2024, at The Parker, Fort Lauderdale. The Orchestra is a superlative cultural institution serving all of South Florida. Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Bernstein, Schubert, and Stravinsky Plus Orchestra will be premiering during this event. These performances are created by trailblazing female composers like Florence Price, Ellen Taafe Zwilich, and Jessie Montgomery. What makes this event even more appealing for the LGBTQ+ community is the representation the community has in these shows. Right from the conductor of this new season, Sebrina María Alfonso, many musicians performing in orchestra belong to the community. The season begins with the glorious tunes of Saint-Saens’ Piano Concerto No. 5 and Schubert’s majestic Symphony No. 9 in Masterworks I – Schubert | Saint-Saëns. Masterworks IV is Stravinsky, Ravel, Bernstein, and Zwilich, And Masterworks V will be Tchaikovsky and Bruch.
