In a video that has recently regained attention from the online community, Dr. Gene Kim who is a pastor at San Jose Bible Baptist Church presents an interesting take on some popular superheroes. He explains that the popular DC Comics Justice League members are actually the bad guys, and represent the forces of the Antichrist. Not only does he point out ways in which each of the members represent forces of evil, but makes the connection that since people call Christianity a joke, then the Joker must represent good Christians. He also mentions that the Justice League is formed to fight their enemy from above, Darkseid. Of course, since the Justice League is (in his sermon) evil, that means the DC Comics villain Darkseid must actually represent Jesus. The concept is interesting to the Queer God Squad. Are comics metaphors for religion and our place in the world?
