The Outshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival will spotlight Carmen Emmi’s award-winning debut, Plainclothes, as part of its Cocktails & Cinema program on Thursday, September 25, at 7:30 PM at O Cinema South Beach. Audiences will gather to experience this gripping Sundance favorite, starring Tom Blyth and Russell Tovey. Set in 1990s Syracuse, New York, the film follows undercover officer Lucas (Blyth), who is tasked with luring and arresting gay men in a mall bathroom.

When he meets Andrew (Tovey), what begins as a calculated sting operation transforms into a dangerous, passionate entanglement. As Lucas balances duty, secrecy, and forbidden love, the story builds toward a high-stakes New Year’s Eve climax. Plainclothes received the U.S. Dramatic Special Jury Award for Ensemble Cast at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, marking Emmi as a director to watch. Festivalgoers will enjoy a night of cinema, conversation, and community. OUTshine Film Festival is South Florida’s premiere showcase for LGBTQ+ films, producing 2 annual large-scale festivals in South Florida. More details are available at OutshineFilm.com.
