As a teenager in NYC, being brought up lower middle class (I mean very low) there was never money to pay for the cost of Broadway tickets, so I joined every group, stood on the TKTS line more than humanely possible and did anything to see shows…I never wanted to be an actor but just fell in love with Broadway at 16. All these years later, I can tell you that Life of Pi is one of the best plays I have ever seen…I am writing this review 2 ½ days after seeing the show and I can’t get it out of my head, and I don’t think I ever will. I assure you this show will affect you profoundly.

The lead role of Pi rotates because it’s so physically demanding, but I was lucky enough to see it with lead actor Taha Mandviwala, who got my attention from the moment he stepped on stage and never lost it, not even during intermission. During intermission at the Broward Center, I tend to sit at a table with other media, and we start reviewing the show to each other. It’s so rare that we all agree, but even at intermission we were all in awe of this amazing show!!

For those of you who never read the book or saw the movie, I didn’t but will, Life of Pi tells the story of Sixteen year old PI, who After a shipwreck in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, survives on a lifeboat with four other companions – a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan, and a 450-pound Royal Bengal tiger. What happens next leads them on an edge of your seat, unforgettable journey.

Told with jaw-dropping visuals, world class, innovative puppetry and exquisite stagecraft, the Broadway and West End sensation Life of Pi creates a visually breathtaking journey that will leave you filled with awe and joy.

This is a theatrical experience unlike any other you have seen and I urge you to get tickets before Life of Pi leaves the Broward Center…there are 5 performances left: Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 2pm and 8pm and Sunday at 1 and 6:30pm.

When you see this show tell Richard Parker, I said hello!
