Trailblazing trans actress Candis Cayne is sounding the alarm on Hollywood’s retreat from trans representation. She said, “There’s now notes going around the companies saying that ‘we’re not hiring any new trans characters’… There’s nothing being written for trans people,” blaming the political climate. Despite once opening doors for many, she now sees “a hard no” for trans people. With few auditions available, Cayne is creating her own work, including the new sapphic fantasy Witchy Ways, which is available to rent on Prime Video and Apple TV.
