A new study shows that lesbians are dying out, in a way. Researchers at the University of Manchester analysed information from users of a dating app for queer women and ninbinary individuals called Zoe. While ‘lesbian’ and ‘bisexual’ were still the most commonly used terms in general, the study found that Gen Z users were far more likely to use broader terms like queer, pansexual, or even asexual. Dr. Francesco Rampazzo, lead author of the study, said:
“Younger generations are showing us that sexuality is not a fixed category—it’s a spectrum… Across the world, more young people are comfortable describing their identities in diverse and fluid ways.”
