Ludovic Mbock, a professional gamer and a resident of Maryland for over 20 years, is currently facing deportation to Cameroon after being detained by ICE during a routine check-in. Mbock, who is gay, fearfully anticipates being sent back to a country where homosexuality is criminalized and can lead to severe persecution or imprisonment. Despite having no criminal record and being a prominent figure in the local gaming scene, Mbock was taken into custody due to a decades-old voluntary departure order from 2005.

His family and supporters are urgently advocating for a stay of removal, highlighting the life-threatening danger he would face in Cameroon. The case has sparked significant outcry from LGBTQ+ advocates and the gaming community, who emphasize that deporting him to a hostile environment is a “death sentence.” His legal team is currently fighting to reopen his immigration case based on the credible threat to his safety.
