AI Deepfake “Throuple” Ad Sparks Republican Feud in Kentucky Primary

A political ad created using AI-generated video is drawing backlash from Republican leaders ahead of Kentucky’s May 19 primary election. The ad falsely depicts Republican Representative Thomas Massie holding hands with Representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Democratic Party’s Ilhan Omar, suggesting the three are in a “throuple.” The footage was designed to resemble security camera video and includes a small disclaimer stating it was AI-generated.

The ad was funded by a group called MAGA Kentucky, which opposes Massie after he broke with former President Donald Trump on several issues, including calls to release files connected to Jeffrey Epstein. Trump has endorsed Massie’s challenger, Ed Gallrein. Former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has condemned the ad on Twitter.
