Keshet Italia, Italy’s only Jewish LGBTQ organization, will participate in Saturday’s Rome Pride parade. It has reached an agreement with organizers following a dispute over the war in Gaza. The group announced it will march “with its own delegation and symbols” and join the coordinating committee for next year’s Pride. Rather than operating a float, the group will march on foot in a designated section with added security. Organizers had previously barred Keshet’s float because it declined to endorse language in Rome Pride’s political platform describing the war in Gaza as a “genocide,” a characterization Israel rejects. Keshet thanked Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri for helping broker the agreement amid growing concerns about antisemitic incidents in Italy.
