On Saturday, July 18, there were 3 events. The first was the Pet Project for Pets annual Bowl-A-Thon at Manor Lanes which was a sold-out event where all the lanes were packed! This event raised thousands of dollars for this important organization! The after party was at Pub on the Drive.

That afternoon, the 4th Annual Riverwalk Tacos & Tequila Festival took place from 2 to 6pm at beautiful Esplanade Park in Downtown Fort Lauderdale. This exciting South Florida food festival brought together the area’s best tacos, refreshing margaritas, premium tequila selections, entertainment, and a lively waterfront atmosphere for an unforgettable afternoon of food, drinks, and fun. Can’t wait for year #5.

Later that night, Arts United Gallery presented Provocative #2, a full-frontal visual art juried exhibition “To Be Seen In All It’s Glory” from 7 to 9pm. The event featured auctions, raffles, and games and Hotspots cover model Edwing, as well as the incredible talents of Serge Airbush, and live art. This was a much-needed fundraiser event for the gallery!

We decided to end the night by heading down to South Beach to the iconic Twist to have a time that we can only have at Twist!

On Tuesday, July 21, The Greater Fort Lauderdale Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce presented their monthly Networking event, this month at the B Ocean Resort. It was really nice to see them back doing what they do best!

On Friday, July 24, The Seminole Hardrock Hotel and Casino Hollywood presented Lionel Richie and Earth, Wind & Fire at the Hard Rock Live as part of their North American Tour. What a fun night watching superstars do what they do best!

On Saturday, July 25, The Palm Beach County Human Rights Council hosted their biennial Summer Soirée at the National Croquet Center, and it was a sold-out event. This was a Palm Beach Summer Casual event and featured the who’s who of Palm Beach County!

Also on Saturday, my friend Willie, Mrs. Florida, (Yes, you read that correctly, because he is the husband of Mr. Florida M.E.), Dionix Onix, celebrated his 55th birthday in style in Doral. Willie is a big supporter of our community, and I am so glad so many people came out to celebrate him!!!

On Sunday, July 26, Compass and Mad Hatter Lounge presented their annual fundraiser; Summertime Madness, a Luau Themed party which included a pig roast, the Jello shots, the patio bar, and a silent auction and raffles. As always, every dollar raised helps Compass.

Sunday was also the last dance at Aquaplex Fort Lauderdale. I don’t want to get into any of the politics that led to this, all I want to think about is the twenty something people that have lost their job/income, many of the some of the top entertainers in South Florida. This makes me very sad. I beg all of you who are reading this that if you have work, think of our brothers and sisters whose jobs were pulled out from them and need to pay bills. I also would like to thank the entertainers, especially the OG’s: Velvet Lenore, Nicolette, Nicole T Phillips, and Franchesque Richards for 19 years of fun, entertainment and memories….I think I speak for the entire community when I say thanks and we love you!!
