A new wave of artists who develop and use environmentally friendly artistic practices will be featured in Art Interventions for Environmental Resilience, the first ArtServe exhibition of the New Year. The exhibit runs from today through March 17 at ArtServe, (1350 E. Sunrise Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale). A free, public opening reception is scheduled for 6pm on Friday, Jan. 27. An official unveiling of the recent mural painted by celebrity artist Pipe Yanguas along ArtServe’s west and northern walls will kick off the evening. Admission is free for both the Jan. 27 reception and the entire exhibit. ArtServe gallery hours are 9 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday and 10 am to 6 pm Saturday.

Jammin’ at The Center returns from a Holiday break to The Pride Center Auditorium with world-renowned Nikki Kidd, who is an international Jazz vocalist with a musical style that sits beautifully at the intersection of classic and new jazz, and a voice that will transport you to a speakeasy from a day gone by. Nikki has worked with acclaimed artists such as Gloria Estefan, Michael Bublé, KC and the Sunshine Band, Thelma Houston, Cory Henry & the Nu Deco Ensemble, Mary Wilson of the Supremes, and Reggae artist Bruck Up.
Stork’s Bakery & Coffee house at 2505 NE 15th Ave in Wilton Manors displays the work of different artists on their walls. The artwork is for sale to the public, who also have an opportunity to meet the artist at a “meet and greet” that is announced when each exhibit has been installed. One of their artists, William Quigley, who is a local writer, photographer, and high school teacher has written a book called “Stories of the Great Within”. In celebration of this achievement, Storks will be hosting a book signing for him on today from 6-8:00 pm.

The Bears of South Florida will be celebrating their 20th anniversary at Union Kitchen and Bar from 2-5pm. A portion of the proceeds from this event will go to 2023 Grant Funding.

With the goal of creating a safe space at which to hold local LGBTQ community events, the auditorium at ArtServe has been officially renamed as “The Our Fund Foundation Hall at ArtServe.” “The Our Fund Foundation is one of the top three LGBTQ-focused foundations in the entire nation,” explained ArtServe Executive Director Jason Hughes. “Especially because they’re known for their careful, thorough assessment of partners, we’re honored they chose our space for their investment.” An opening reception has been planned at ArtServe to introduce the newly renamed venue today from 6pm to 7:30pm. The 2023 My Hollywood Pride Street Festival will take place today from 1-6pm in Downtown Hollywood and will be followed by a Tea Dance at Karma Lounge, also located in Downtown Hollywood from 6 to 10pm. The Street Festival, which includes a number of food vendors with a focus on local Hollywood restaurants and businesses will also have live musical entertainment on its Main Stage, hosted by Velvet Lenore, and featuring drag queens and artists performing across a range of genres.
