Contestant from RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 3
The third eliminated contestant to sashay away on LOGO TVs RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 3 is India Ferrah. Here is what India had to say.
At what age did female impersonation become an interest?
At the age of 12 I was home schooled by my parents. My brother, who is also gay, had a boyfriend who was a drag queen who put me in a drag for the first time. I became obsessed with it and the rest is history. I started performing at the age of 15.
How did you pick your name?
My drag mother, Montana St Clair, gave me my name.
How did you go about getting on RuPauls Drag Race. Tell me about the experience?
I auditioned all 3 seasons. The first season I didn’t get the video in on time. I didn’t make the cut the 2nd season, so the 3rd season I took it super serious and was dedicated to getting on the show. My husband was super supportive and helped me the whole way. (Editor’s note: Happy 1 year anniversary to India and her hubby Nickolas on February 17th).
The experience was absolutely incredible. A once in a lifetime opportunity, that I made the best of and I have no regrets.
Who do you want to win?
I am rooting for Yara Sofia as she is so unique and creative. She is all about hair costumes, jewelry and I am all about her style.
Tell me about the man behind India Ferrah?
The man behind India is basically India because I have my business license and I sell make-up, shoes, jewelry, etc. Shane, my boy name, likes to hang out with his husband. We go to dinner, the movies and I love making him laugh.
Tell me something people would be surprised to know about you.
That I am a computer nerd and have been since I was 10 years old. It amazes my husband. I still haven’t been to college, but I am hoping to start my studies soon.
What’s ahead for India Ferrah?
I am traveling nonstop. I just got back from Kansas where I performed at the K State 5th annual drag show. There were 1700 people in attendance and it was amazing. I am excited about meeting new people, sharing my wisdom with others and sometime in the future I will be competing in another National pageant.
