This weekend there were so many things going on around Fort Lauderdale that I didn’t leave the city limits. From Video stars, to art walks, to the Market Bazaar, to Presidents day weekend events, to the sports tournaments to the inaugural Fortitude weekend of events this weekend was packed full of unbelievable events that make me proud to call South Florida my home.

Living Room in association with Milancita presents direct from the A List New York and RuPaul’s Drag Race celebrity Fashion photographer Mike Ruiz. Mike will be searching for America’s next fashion model, could it be you? This will be having a live casting, so come camera ready!

Sandal presents a Latin Masquerade Party, Otra Vez, with DJs Tony and Willie G. and shows by Adora, Marytrini and guests.

The Boardwalk presents video star Phoenix Saint live and in the flesh for 2 shows tonight and tomorrow at 11 pm and 1 am.

West Palm Beach’s longest residing professional theatre, Palm Beach Dramaworks, continues its 11th anniversary season with Donald Margulies’ Pulitzer Prize-winning play, “Dinner with Friends” tonight at 8 pm. The production will play through April 17th. The theatre is located in the heart of downtown West Palm Beach, at 322 Banyan Boulevard, between Dixie Highway and Olive Avenue. Saturday, February 26

Donald Roberts and Laura Goldman in association with Nova Southeastern University present Kurt Peterson and Victoria Mallory in Twighlight Notes. The evening will include songs and anecdotes from Peterson and Mallory’s early years on Broadway in West Side Story, Follies, Dear World, A Little Night Music, Sondheim: A Musical Tribute and many others. The event takes place at the Rose and Alfred Miniaci Performing Arts Center at NOVA at 7 pm. Tickets are available at Miniacipac.org or by calling 954-462-0222.

Sunserve presents the first annual South Florida Glee-a-thon from 3 to 7 pm at The Manor. You get 5 minutes to show how Glee-ful you are. Teams (up to 10 members) will compete for: Most Glee-ful performance, best overall and best lip synch. All proceeds will benefit Sunserve programs for LGBTQ Youth. Bootylicious Sundays moves to Karma tonight and stars Sheena Devine Hawkins, Tariq Love Dupree and DJ Josh Atom spinning the best of hip-hop and Old School. Karma is 18 to party and 21 to drink.

The Manor presents the 2nd annual Besties Awards honoring the communities best of the best during the viewing gala of the 83rd annual academy awards. The night will be co-hosted by Joe Posa as Joan Rivers and Mike Verdugo. The red carpet starts at 7 pm with the awards starting at 8 pm.

The Alibi welcomes back the Fort Lauderdale SFAA softball players with a banquet. The party starts at 4pm with the buffet at 5:30 pm.

Sidelines present their 1st of 2 charity car washes to raise money for team Sidelines for Florida AIDS Walk. Get your car washed between 11 am and 2 pm at the sidelines parking lot for only $7. Tickets are available at Sidelines or from any team member.

Rosie’s annual Academy Awards red carpet extravaganza with big screens, big contests and big prizes starts at 7 pm with the pre-show and the big show starts at 8 pm.

Alibi Wilton Manors and Bill’s Filling Stationsays the winner is YOU! They will have 2 parties going on simultaneously for the Oscars. At Alibi it is hosted by Casheta and at Bill’s it’s hosted by Frank in the Mustang Lounge. Get your ballots at each bar (which must be submitted before the 1st award is announced) and the person that gets the most correct and submitted first will win a gift basket.

Scandals presents Lady Fancy and the Jubilettes in their monthly Gospel Jubilee starting at 6 pm. They encourage you to sing along as they present the very best in good ole fashioned southern gospel music.

Oscar Night America viewing parties are the official nationwide celebrations of the Oscars. ONA Miami Beach 2011’s cocktail soirée will also act as a grand opening event hosted at the film society’s yet to be unveiled cinematheque, located inside the historic Miami Beach City Hall. Additional Oscar Night sponsors include Escopazzo, Bombay Sapphire, Francis Ford Coppola Presents, Nespresso, Perrier and Audio Visual Services.
