This was supposed to be my weekend to relax, but when you are in the magazine business there is hardly ever a dull moment, much less a dull weekend. The weekend started early, on Thursday (although it went all weekend long) with the 31st anniversary of Johnny’s which was combined with the 25th anniversary of Uncle Al working there. Friday was the birthday celebration for owner Matty at Matty’s and you will see from the pic page next week that it was a blast. Damn, those grape martinis! Saturday the Sunshine Cathedral featured their first annual Vegas Style Casino night and the place was decorated into Caesars Palace. Congratulations to Corrie Boyd and the entire church on this fabulous fundraiser. After the church I went to the Dennis Dean Gallery for their relocation celebration. Later on that night I went to Boardwalk to celebrate Jackson Padgett’s (co-owner of Alibi and Bill’s) birthday with him and his crew. I had a ball there and the place was packed! A very happy birthday to Jackson from the entire Hotspots team!

Sunday night there were 2 big events. The first was the Voodoo Closing Party at Manor which was also a benefit for Daisy and her other half Raul in order to raise money to keep Raul in the country. All of Daisy’s fans from all over the state showed up to support one of South Florida’s most beloved entertainers in her time of need. This is the precise reason why gay marriage needs to be legalized! The second event was the grand opening of Edison’s Farrow’s Chalet Sundays at the Treehouse starring Kidd Madonny. Now Edison Farrow and SOBE Social Club have a successful Thursday and Sunday. Next Weekend is Celebrate Orgullo, see you all there!
