Friday night after a series of mishaps that tested my patience my life changed when I saw Broadway diva Idina Menzel in concert at the Arsht Center in Miami. Idina was the original Maureen in Rent (Tony Nominated) and the Tony award winning Elfaba in Wicked and is currently on GLEE as Leah Michelle’s mother. Her voice is magical and her wonderful personality shined through the entire performance. Usually when I go to a concert there are 1 or 2 songs that shine, but with Idina every song shined, it was truly an experience I will never forget. Saturday was the annual AIDS Vigil in honor of Worlds AIDS day down Wilton Drive with Grand Marshall Michelle Visage of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Over 2000 people walked from Hagen Park to the Pride Center, it was an incredible turnout! Saturday night the RuPaul stars were all over Wilton Manors with 3 being at Boom, 4 at Matty’s and 5 at Manor. Late in the evening (early morning) I was hanging with a whole bunch of them at Manor. A special shout out to the always entertaining and super nice Shangela! Sunday night was the much anticipated Wanda Sykes concert, a benefit for Broward House, at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. The concert was sold out and after a 30 minute incredibly funny opening act Wanda went on for 75 minutes of what can only be described as non stop laughing. She was funny, gracious and personable. Sunday night was the premiere of Tony Ferro’s new party at Souz South Beach. Congrats to Tony on his inaugural party!

whats hot sf 10On the heels of  Lindsay Lohan being charged last week with third degree assault after a fight in NYC, the biography comic book “Infamous: Lindsay Lohan”, follows her rollercoaster life, is hitting the e-book world. “Infamous: Lindsay Lohan,” follows the troubled actresses’ life who is now more famous for her off-screen exploits than anything she has done in movies. “Infamous: Lindsay Lohan” is written by New York Times Best Selling author Marc Shapiro and illustrated by Japan’s leading manga artists Mimei Sakamoto. “This issue can be seen as a tragedy in motion; its last chapter has yet to be written,” said Bluewater president Darren G. Davis. “Lohan is both a victim of the all-consuming celebrity culture and a perpetrator of bad decisions, the lack of self-control and an unhealthy sense of entitlement.” According to Shapiro, the book is not all about the salacious headlines, mug shots and outrageous behavior, but tries to examine the underlying causes of Lohan’s inability to “straighten out her life.” “Infamous: Lindsay Lohan,” features cover art by famed comic book artist Joe Phillips. The issue will retail for $1.99 and be available through Kindle, Nook, Wowio, DriveThru Comics, ComiXology My Digital Comics, and will be on released on iTunes soon.
