Last Wednesday was a big day in South Beach. Well, to be honest it was a BIG day all over our country, with the repeal of DOMA and Proposition 8. In Florida there were rallies all over the state, and Hotspots had them covered (check out the fab article in this week’s edition written by Mike Halterman). I went down to the rally at the MDGLCC and it was a great turnout of the who’s who (gay and straight) of South Beach. After the rally I went to dinner at Palace to see my friend and hostess Noel Leon who put on a fabulous show and, trust, the boys were out to celebrate. For those of you who know me, you know I am not a big drinker (lightweight here), but I must recommend the Brooklyn Cosmo as it is delish! Afterwards we went over to Twist to celebrate their 20th anniversary with a few hundred of their closest friends. As usual, when Twist has an anniversary, the place was packed! The Hotspots crew was all in force at St. Pete Pride on Saturday for an event that closes the fabulous Pride season in our beautiful state. St. Pete Pride never fails to deliver an outstanding event even this year despite the torrential downpours; the crowds refused to leave. Congratulations to the organizers for making Hotspots and the entire community proud to be a part of this wonderful event. On Sunday I was saddened to attend the closing party of the Depot Cabana Bar and Grill. The good part is that it was filled with lots of well wishers who love Marc and Jim and were there to send them off in a gay fashion.
