I talked to one of Pompano Ford’s salespeople, Matthew Van Vurst, about all the cars the dealership offers.
Which new cars on your lot are especially popular right now?
There’s the 2015 Fort Mustang. It’s unbelievable. It’s all newly-designed for ’15. Another one people really like is the Lincoln MKZ. It’s become one of our best-selling models.
What’s the one thing that you notice shoppers are really looking for in a car?
The value. Every automobile, whether it’s a car, a truck, a sedan, and so on, is the nicest car in its class. I am confident that out of all the cars we have on our lot, we have the nicest car in any specific market segment. Our technology has improved and people like that. All our Fords and Lincolns are now equipped with voice recognition technology and it can perform up to 10,000 tasks by voice command.
How do you assess a customer’s needs and help them pick a car that’s right for them?
Most salespeople greet people at the door and take them straight out to the lot. What we like to do is take them to our desks, sit them down and find out exactly what they want. We’ve had salespeople who have been here for 20, 30 years. I’ve been selling Fords and Lincolns for 26 years.
I have confidence in the cars we sell on the lot and we only sell the best. I’d sell to my mother or my aunt and I’d know they got a quality car. We want the community to know that feeling too.
How easy is it to set up a test drive?
It’s very easy. We actually have this promotion called “Date Night,” where you can test drive one of our Fords or Lincolns and you get a $100 gift card to a restaurant, so you can go out to dinner and have a date. We clean the car and fill it up with gas, then it’s ready for you to take and then you just return it to us the next day.
