It’s almost been a year and South Florida’s gay community that loves to dance cannot wait for one of their favorite weekend events – White Part, that always takes place over Thanksgiving weekend.
In 1985, the first-ever White Party was held in Miami Beach, raising $16,000 for HIV/AIDS service organizations. The original group, headed by Frank Wager, wanted to channel their grief into a task that was proactive. They dressed in white, symbolizing purity and elegance, and raised money for the Health Crisis Network. This year, as the 33rd annual event kicks off, we are reminded why it still so vitally important to keep up the fight to raise money for those fighting HIV/AIDS.
White Party Week features twelve major events, beginning on Thursday, November 23, with the final party presented on Monday, November 27.
Tickets must be purchased either online at whiteparty.org or at the doors of the events. Prices per event (advance prices only) will be listed throughout.
Here’s a calendar of events that summarizes all of this year’s parties.
Thursday, November 24
White Journey – This party is produced in conjunction with Score Productions and Xlsior Mykonos. The theme this year is Xlsior Solarium and features music by DJ Dani Toro and Hansell Leyva, who are both easy on the eyes as well! White Journey takes place at Score (1437 Washington Ave.) and will be the perfect way to work off some of that Turkey and stuffing from earlier in the day. (10 p.m. to 5 a.m., $35)
Friday, November 25
White Dreams – This party is presented by Hilton Wolman Salvation events. Let all your dreams come true tonight at Club Space (34 NE 11th Street, Miami) as you are treated to an experience that will engulf nearly every single one of your senses. DJs Paulo and Danny Verde will be spinning back to back at this event. (10 p.m. to 7 a.m., $85; VIP $135)
Saturday, November 26
White Splash Pool Party – Soak in some rays, take in the sights of the gorgeous eye candy, and enjoy music poolside at the Nautilus Hotel in Miami Beach (1825 Collins Ave) at this year’s White Splash pool party is brought to you by Jake Resnicow and Scott Hauser and part of the Matiness USA Pre-Party Tour. Spinning will be DJS Joe Gauthreaux and Cindel. (2 to 9p.m., $49; VIP $69).
White Starz – Score Production & Arena present hundreds of slick and sexy men, who will be packed onto the dance floor at Score (1437 Washington Avenue). The fun times you have here at White Starz will make for memories that will last a lifetime (or at least until next year’s party). Superstar DJs Aron, Kev-J and Isaac Escalante will take over the beats for the evening. Get ready to party into the early morning. (10 p.m. to 7 a.m., $85; VIP $135)
Sunday, November 27
Muscle Beach Party – Urge presents this party, which is always one of the sexiest parties on the sand, once you step foot on the 12th Street Beach and see the thousands of beautiful men, you’ll feel like you are in gay heaven right here in Miami Beach. DJs Cajjmere Wray and Dan Slater will make you dance all day long with a live performance by international recording artist Anton. (1 p.m. to 9 p.m., $90; VIP $140)
Noche Blanca – Urge is also presenting this party which will celebrate the 25h anniversary of DJ Abel will be playing for the crowds at Cameo (1445 Washington Ave.)who will be spinning a special 3 hour set from 9p.m. to midnight, followed by DJ Tom Stephan and then Abel will come back for a special late night set! (9p.m. to 5 a.m., $90; VIP $140; If you are going to arrive between 9-10 p.m. they are offering a reduced ticket of $45).
Monday, November 28
White Horizons – This legendary Monday morning marathon is produced by Hilton Wolman Events, and is where you can dance your cares away all the way through to lunchtime at Heart Nightclub (50 NE 11th St, Downtown Miami). DJ Alyson Calagna will be providing the soundtrack. (5 a.m. to noon, $50).
Swan Song – This annual event, now in its 24th year, is the last time you will be able to see the people you met at White Party Week (that is, of course, until next year!). DJ Bill Hallquist will be spinning as everyone bids farewell to another fabulous year for the White Party, and says thank you to Care Resource for the services they give to the south Florida community. Twist (1057 Washington Avenue) is the host venue for this legendary party. (11 p.m. to 5 a.m., free)
