Veracruz es un Departamento de la ciudad más poblada del estado de Veracruz, así como la ciudad central que da nombre al área urbana denominada como Zona Metropolitana de Veracruz. Esta hermosa ciudad posee el puerto marítimo comercial más importante del País. Con una población de 552,160 habitantes para 2010.
Está ubicada a más o menos de 80 a 90 km de distancia de la capital del estado Xalapa y a más o menos 300 a 400 km de distancia de la Ciudad de México. Según los historiadores esta ciudad y puerto es muy reconocida por haber sido fundada por el señor Hernán Cortés.
