Back again, The City of Fort Lauderdale and ArtServe present The Great American Beach Party, which will feature 20 local artists with artwork and handmade crafts including drawings, photography, small sculptures, visual artists, jewelry designers, caricaturists, and more at Las Olas Oceanside Park from 11am to 6:30 pm.
NSU Art Museum presents Community Voices: The Annual Conni Gordon Art Talk with Rachel Panton, Ph.D from 3-4pm, and is free. In this gallery talk, Dr. Panton explores the following questions: What stories are Black women artists telling about the interior lives of Black women? What “light and truth” are they illuminating against the dominant narrative of Black women’s lived experiences? And more. This talk will highlight critical considerations that traverse the intersections of gender and race in the diaspora, as well as art as resistance in the reimagining of Black female identities through selected works in the Lux et Veritas exhibition now currently showing at the NSU Museum.

The Manor Complex celebrates Memorial Day weekend with an official pre-party to Gary Santis annual White Fort Lauderdale event. A cast of over 40 colorful drag artists will adorn a prominent Wall of Fame as part of History Fort Lauderdale’s “I Am What I Am: A Tribute to South Florida’s Drag Pioneers,” in honor of PRIDE Month (June 2022). This never-before-seen tribute at Galleria Fort Lauderdale will showcase the drag community who tirelessly entertain and support philanthropic endeavors. Ellen Wedner, president of Creative Arts Enterprises, announced today that it will once again be kicking off Pride Month’s celebration of the local LGBTQIA+ community with PRIDE LIGHTS that will illuminate in multi-colored, rainbow lights the Centennial Fountain in Nancy M. Graham Centennial Park in downtown West Palm Beach. Located at 150 N. Clematis Street, the Centennial Fountain lights—along with those on the nearby Citizens Building, the marquee at Palm Beach Dramaworks, Brightline Station, and more—will be turned on at 8 pm following a festive PRIDE Happy Hour from 6 to 8 pm at Pistache French Bistro just a few steps away.
