In celebration of Italian American Heritage Month, A Fish Called Avalon will host an exhibition of Italian American Icons, featuring 14 award-winning mosaic portraits from Italy’s internationally renowned Scuola Mosaicisti del Friuli. Founded in 1922 in the small town of Spilimbergo in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region in Northeast Italy, the mission of the school is to preserve the ancient art of mosaics while combining new, innovative techniques. The works will be on display beginning today through November 6th at A Fish Called Avalon, located in the Avalon Hotel, 700 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach. (305) 532-1727.
Hotspots/Happening Out Art Gallery with Dennis Dean presents their October opening reception (6-9pm) which will celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Month with the featured artists: Warren Perlstein, Suzanne Barton, JL Swartz, Roger Schinkler, Sami Davidson, Chuck Williams, Michelle Drummond, Tedd Davis and Dennis Dean. They will be selling raffle tickets to win the Breast Cancer stamp framed poset. 100% of proceeds go to Gilda’s Club South Florida.

The 50th annual Miss Florida F.I. Pageantry weekend takes place on Sunday, October 2 (Mr., at Large and Supreme) and Monday, October 3 (Miss Florida) in the beautiful “Crystal Room” at the Venue Fort Lauderdale with doors opening at 7pm and pageants starting at 8pm each night. The opening reception of the PrintLine exhibition celebrating the work of Argentinian Artists in collaboration with the Box Gallery of the United States and the Taller Galeria Edition Center of Argentina takes place today at 7pm (exhibition dates are Oct 4-11). The extraordinary exhibition spotlights work created with first-rate graphic techniques by artists with vast experiences and awards. The exhibition is made up of 27 artists from around the world whose work is carried out on various fabrics and where their images represent the impression of the line of Life.
