Two-time Olympic champion Caster Semenya is criticizing the International Olympic Committee’s new eligibility rules requiring sex testing for women athletes. Speaking in Cape Town, she called the policy a “disrespect for women.” The IOC announced on March 26 that athletes must undergo a one-time gene test, with those carrying the SRY gene deemed ineligible for women’s events. The rule will begin at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Non-binary athlete Nikki Hiltz also criticized the policy, writing, “Everyone is hurt by transphobia.”
