Detroit filmmaker Chris ‘Inpaq’ Sutton directed the movie, ‘Heaven in Detroit: A Sanctuary of Sound.’ The movie pays homage to Club Heaven, an underground, after-hours spot that operated on Woodward Avenue from 1984 to 1994. The film follows a grieving young man who finds comfort and chosen family on the club’s final night. Spaces like Club Heaven provided vital refuge. Driven primarily by Black queer Detroiters, the film honors the legacy of pioneers like the late DJ Ken Collier. The film is premiering in Detroit venues, with wider distribution still being worked out. Visit Heaven In Detroit dot com for more information.
