There is no way to describe Steam Fridays @ the Honey Pot this past Friday! As you entered, you could feel the club was bursting with energy. Fashion students showing off their new creations, off duty dancers letting their hair down, friends getting together for celebrations, several unnamed political VIPs and a couple porn stars all enjoying life GaYBOR style! Through the crowd we heard over and over again, “We can't believe she is here!” Who was everybody talking about?

Where does the time go to? Another year just flew by. Last year Charlie's hosted a wild party on a trolly car then ended with a fashion show in the center of the street. We all thought that they could not outdo that party. We were wrong!
This year Bebe Zahara Benet, the winner of “RuPaul's Drag Race,” performed at Streetcar Charlie's! All the tables were moved outside into a U Haul truck to make way for the party goers. Judy B. Goode was the opening act. Judy had the crowd up on their feet dancing, singing and even break dancing! When Bebe took the stage there was a roar that was heard across Tampa! Congratulations, Streetcar Charlie's on a wonderful anniversary!

Chris Salvatore & Gay American Heroes
You will recognize him as the handsome star in the big hit DVD movie, “Eating Out, All You Can Eat,” Christopher Salvatore. Chris is on a concert tour singing his way across Florida. Chris is also a talented songwriter. He is also promoting awareness for the Gay American Heroes Memorial. Driving and traveling with Chris was G.A.H. founder, Scott Hall. “It is all about making people aware and know that a gay individual is murdered every nine days in the US, just for being who they are!”

On Friday, quite a few of the Hotspots staff were in Tampa to attend the monthly GaYBOR District Coalition Meeting. Members announced a spring break event called Rites of Spring scheduled for March 19th to the 21st. Other upcoming events planned include Memorial Day Weekend, St. Pete Pride (June 26th) and GaYBOR Days in July. Congratulations to the organizers of the Gasparilla Softball Tournament who hosted 80 teams from all over the U.S. and Canada! What would a weekend in Tampa be if we did not stop at Honey Pot on Friday for the wonderful “Through the Looking Glass” themed event? The crowd was amazing and the décor was simply over the top! Well done Steve M, Steve D, Mathew and team!

“Wicked” The Biggest Hit Musical Is Coming to Tampa
Long before that girl from Kansas arrives in Munchkinland, two girls meet in the land of Oz. One – born with emerald green skin – is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular. How these two grow to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch makes for “the most complete and completely satisfying new musical in a long time” (USA Today). It is coming to the Straz Performing Arts Center in the Carol Morsani Hall February 3 - 28, 2010. For more information, visit WickedTheMusical.com or go to TBPAC.org for tickets.
