On Tuesday, the GLCC Pride Center hosted their monthly Founder Circle event. This time the venue was at the truly amazing CHIMA Brazilian Restaurant on Los Olas Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale. Despite the unseasonably warm temperatures, everyone enjoyed themselves under the shade provided by the huge banyan trees in CHIMA’s fabulous courtyard along with the cool drinks and wonderful Brazilian appetizers. On Friday Living Room Nightclub presented their much anticipated 1 year anniversary event starring DJ/producer/icon Danny Tenaglia. In addition the great music by Danny in the main room and resident Maximus 3000 in the front room, there was a fabulous performance by Erika Norell, Taina Norell, TP Lords, Noel Leon, Champagne Bordeaux and Nikki Whyte. Congrats go out to Christian, Mark and the entire Living Room team for a fabulous first year, and here’s wishing them many more years of success! After leaving Living Room I headed down south to Azucar to see my buddy DJ Jarell spin House and some Latin for the Latino crowd at Azucar. What I hadn’t known is that Tony Arturo and the team did some remodeling and designed new bars and a new stage that all looks fantastic! The show by Mariloly and the divas (Sophia and Terisita) was as usual, a blast. I also had a nice conversation with Tony in his office and he told me about a new pageant he is organizing that is going to be called Queen of Queens and will take place next October. Stay tuned to this column for more details….but trust the claws will be out to win this prestigious new title. Saturday night was night 4 in Bill’s 14th anniversary weekend celebration and featured dance diva Ultra Nate live in concert. Not only did she give a fab concert to her many admirers, but she was also as sweet as sweet can be. Congrats go out to Jackson, Mark, Ron, Jeff, Don and the entire Bill’s team for a wonderful anniversary weekend and we here at Hotspots wish them many more years of success!

Last week the City of Miami Beach unanimously passed the first reading of a Human Rights Ordinance revision designed to strengthen and improve its original Human Rights Ordinance, first passed in 1992. While the City of Miami Beach was the very first in south Florida to adopt such an Ordinance 17 years ago, other municipalities have passed even stronger and better laws in the intervening years. Therefore, SAVE Dade has worked in collaboration with Commissioner Victor Diaz and the City Attorney’s office to draft revisions that mirror the language in the proposed Florida Civil Rights Bill. The reading of the new, stronger ordinance, sponsored by Commissioner Victor Diaz and seconded by Commissioner Ed Tobin, was passed unanimously, 7-0. The second reading of the new ordinance will be held on December 9th.

Please no solicitation and no headhunters. Please visit 103109.com for more information about the event and click on the “Volunteer” tab to fill out an application. You can also e-mail the Asylum’s Volunteer Coordinator directly at Peter@SAVEDade.org.

Congratulations to the boys at Decades as they are getting ready to celebrate their 2nd anniversary. If you haven’t checked out their store on 4th Ave. you don’t know what you’re missing. Unlike the 26th St. location, this store is super modern. They have a great mix of mid-century furnishings and prices that can’t be beat. The merchandise turns over rapidly and the space, a converted 1950s garage, is really cool. You’ll feel like you’re in a hip SOHO shop without the NYC prices. See what all the buzz is about and check out Decades at 1500 NE 4th Ave. in Ft. Lauderdale (two doors away from the Ramrod). Store hours are Monday through Friday 10 am to 6 pm, Saturday and Sunday 10 am to 5 pm.

After a breakup, gay Parisian Jerome impulsively books a solo Christmas vacation to Los Angeles. Like many before him, he plans to pursue his secret dream to become a movie star – and, of course, to find love along with fame and fortune! Completely naïve about what he is getting into, Jerome nonetheless hooks up with some colorful locals, and stumbles headlong into an acting role. Nothing about Hollywood quite matches Jerome’s fantasies, however, and his misadventures are both hilarious and touching. Bright, funny, honest and utterly charming, Hollywood, Je T’aime is a stunning debut for Director Jason Bushman. Eric Debets shines as Jerome; his classic look and an amusing ease with his own awkwardness are evocative of Buster Keaton and Marcel Marceau. Cast includes Eric Debets, Jonathan Blanc, Diarra Kilpatrick, Michael Airington and Chad Allen (Save Me, Third Man Out, Shock to the System, Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, Our House). The DVD bonus features include: commentary, deleted scenes, behind the scenes featurette, theatrical trailer and more. Hollywood, Je T’aime hits the streets on December 8th, but you can order your advance copies now at WolfeVideo.com for only $24.95
