On Monday, July 19th Bill’s presented their 4th annual Bartenders, Boxers and Briefs Underwear Auction benefitting Tuesday’s Angels. The event featured some of the sexiest bartenders from around town selling their underwear on stage for such a good cause. A special shout out to Tyrone of Rosie’s who I found to be the sexiest of all. Congratulations go out to Don Clark (organizer), Pooch, Jackson, Mark and the entire staff of Bills for such a successful event that raised over $15,000. Also that night, Monkey Business presented the annual Female Impersonator of the Year pageant and the winner was Kennedy Davenport with Noel Leon taking 1st runner up.
This past weekend I headed up to Orlando for the Parliament House’s 35th anniversary weekend, and let me tell you Don and Susan did not disappoint! They had a full line up of events, with the main event being Saturday night starring recording artists Expose’. I also had the opportunity to sit down and interview the group, after their sound check, who were just as sweet and lovely as can be (look for that exclusive interview in the next few weeks). While in Orlando I went to Paul Anderson’s Feel It Friday’s at Lyrica which just opened a few weeks ago and is bringing all the cute boys out to party. This is a great space and a great party, so check it out. On Saturday night, before Expose’s performance, Scott Spar (Hotspots’ Central Florida Advertising and Marketing Manager), our friends Derek (former Hotspots cover model) and Shawn (from Janice Dickinson’s Modeling Agency) and I went to Savoy, which is a great neighborhood bar with lots of eye candy dancing on and off the bars. We then headed to Pulse, which was jamming. There was a line to get in, but manager LuLu who walked us right in (Thanks!). All the rooms including the patio were wall to wall people. Clearly Pulse is still pulsating! We then headed back to P-House to catch the captivating performance of Expose’. After the performance the girls signed autographs for over an hour (a special kudos to Jeanette, who broke her toe, but sat there like a trooper until every single autograph was signed). Sunday early afternoon Scott and I went to Hamburger Mary’s for brunch and although our waitress Erica was super nice I could not keep my eyes off of hottie waiter Gerritt. A special thanks to owner John for being such a great host. Well I had a fabulous time in Orlando, and rest assured I will be visiting again real soon!

Get ready for the 2010’s second quarter edition of Drinking & Drawing: Miami, which will take place at 8 pm at The News Lounge at the 55th Street Station. Brought to you by Miami World Cinema Center Animation in association with Frederator Studios, this edition will be the first one to feature a guest artist; Krave. Powered by Spencer Morin, Drinking and Drawing is an animated session where animators and animation fans get together to draw and mingle. Groups of animators are called up to the drawing area, 10 at a time. Each animator receives 8 blank note cards, as well as the last card from the animator that drew before them. They have exactly 20 minutes to animate their own original segment of the piece as well as tie their animation into the segment being drawn by the person on their right. At the end of the 20 minutes, all of the animators surrender their seats and a new batch is called to the table. This collective work becomes a short animated film made by dozens of animators all in the span of one unforgettable evening. The Manor presents a free concert and dance party entitled Freestyle Friday starring C&C Music Factory’s Zelma Davis performing the hits “Gonna Make You Sweat” (Everybody Dance Now), “Things That Make You Go Hmmmm” and more. Music by freestyle god DH Marc Scott and don’t forget that the Leesa Richard Band will be performing live in the Windsor starting at 8:30 pm.
Club Sugar welcomes Milancita on board to promote their Friday nights. The night stars DJ Jarell with shows by Vegas Dion and TP Lords. The night is hosted by Alex Infiniti. Tonight the will be featuring giveaways from Charice, the debut album from the international singing sensation featuring the smash hit single “Pyramid.”

Leather Werks presents Whips 101 at 2 pm which is a comprehensive discussion of the three major classes of single tail whips, including whip construction, materials and terminology, common care methods and minor repairs, with an overview of whip makers and on-line resources. Guest instructor Sebastian visits Fort Lauderdale. The class is instructed by Sebastian, co-owner of the Whip Enthusiast Group, the group recognized nationally as the sponsor and promoters of Sport Whip Cracking and World Championship Competition. He is also a well known and respected teacher of whip use in play settings. Sebastian is from Dallas, Texas.

The Give a Damn Campaign today releases its latest video in its monthly series to highlight the discrimination that the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community continues to face. This month, Cynthia Nixon, Sharon Osbourne and Karolína Kurková talk about why they give a damn about gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender parents and their kids. These three moms are joined by a father and a grandmother to call attention to the discrimination that families headed by gay parents face each and every day in this country. Many mainstream child health and social service organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Medical Association, American Psychological Association, Child Welfare League of America and National Association of Social Workers, have gone on record to support adoption by qualified lesbian and gay parents. Unfortunately, many road blocks remain in place, including 3 states that have blanket bans prohibiting any lesbian or gay couple from adopting. In many states, the parenting law for gay and transgender people is still unclear. In addition, there are 6 million to 14 million lesbian and gay parents in this country that cannot do all they would like to ensure the emotional and financial security of their children -in part, because current federal and state regulations extend thousands of protections to married couples and their families, but not necessarily to same-sex couples and their families. Also, many companies do not provide the same health insurance benefits for their gay employees, those employees’ health insurance won’t cover their domestic partners or the children of their domestic partners who are not adopted by the employee. It is time for things to change. The Give a Damn Campaign urges everyone to share this video – especially with the straight people in their lives – to educate them about the need to get involved in helping protect families headed by gay and lesbian parents.
