A few years ago I finally had the opportunity to see the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater perform live, and it was even better than my expectations. It’s very hard to put into words the concepts and messages that they perform with dance. The only thing I can say is it’s a must see, so please get your tickets as they perform from tonight through Sunday, February 25 at the Arsht Center in Miami. Led by Artistic Director Robert Battle and featuring company star Jamar Roberts, both Miami natives, Ailey’s extraordinary dancers will move audiences with exciting premieres including Roberts’ first work for the Company – Members Don’t Get Weary – an abstract look at what it means to have the blues, set to music by John Coltrane. Alvin Ailey’s signature masterpiece Revelations (all I can say is OMG) – an American classic acclaimed as a must-see – will provide the inspiring finale at each of the five performances.Tickets start at $29.

The Outlandish Series presents John Waters in “Filthy World” his one-man show; a “vaudeville” act that celebrates the film career and obsessive tastes of the man William Burroughs once called “The Pope of Trash.” at the Sunshine Cathedral at 8p.m. John will focus in on his early negative artistic influences and his fascination with true crime, exploitation films, fashion lunacy, and the extremes of sexual politics. Noche Latina Saturday inside the Ivy Lounge and Patio at the Manor Complex pays tribute to the Cuban Divas starring Taina Norell and Sabrina De Rico, along with resident DJ Larry Larr and sexy Latin Go-Go Papi’s dancing on the bar. For those of you who love America’s Got Talent or just love doggies, then you must check out the Olate Dogs at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts at 11 a.m. These sweet, funny and ultra-talented acrobat dogs perform amazing circus stunts and tricks with their entertaining dog handlers. This fast-paced, high-energy show has been featured in Las Vegas, on the Today Show and the Tonight Show, NBA half-time entertainment, and in sold-out venues across the country. Tickets start at $30.
