Pride Skate at Xtreme Action Park, which last month moved to the first Thursday of the month is happening today from 7-10pm. Pride skate is presented by Hotspots Magazine and Happening Out TV and is a fundraiser for Wilton Manors Stonewall Pride Parade and Street festival. The event features DJ T-Pro mix, divas Velvet Lenore and Rianna Petrone, skating, and a full liquor bar. Our Fund Foundation (1201 NE 26th Street Suite 108, Wilton Manors) presents Demystifying Critical Race Theory – In honor of their Fund’s Legacy Society and as part of The Howard Greenfield Memorial Lecture Series In partnership with Florida Atlantic University Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters from 6- 7:30pm. Put simply, Critical Race Theory describes work and research done by “activists and scholars interested in studying and transforming the relationship among race, racism, and power” (Delgado and Stefancic). This discussion will cover topics and issues that bring us toward a more critical understanding of systematic racism including social constructions of race, racial discrimination and racism, racial Othering, “post-racialism,” and colorblindness rhetoric, historically and in our contemporary moment.

The Museum of Discovery and Science (MODS) is proud to continue offering active military personnel and their families FREE admission all summer long through the Blue Star Museums program. This is a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense and more than 2,000 museums across the United States. This started on Armed Forces Day, May 20, and goes through Labor Day, September 4. The Blue Star Museums free admission program is available for those currently serving in the United States Military—Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, and Space Force, members of the Reserves, National Guard, U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps, NOAA Commissioned Corps, and up to five family members. Blue Star Museum guests can upgrade to watch an IMAX documentary film on the GIANT screen for $5 per person upon arrival at the Museum’s box office.
